Get to know Him

"I tell you the truth anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father." ( for you)
John 14:12

To my dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I pray that in the mist of this chaotic holiday season you have had a moment of peace and joy that can only be supplied by Him who allows the sea to reach the earth and the earth to rich the heavens. Our creator and our Lord, Our father and our friend. For God is real and in Jesus we find a new hope that can not be expressed by mere human words.

Today I would like to share with you a few things I have learned from my Lord over this holiday season. I have learned that our God is truly "The Lord". He is Lord over those who trust Him. He is the Lord over there lives, their desires, and their dreams. I have come under the light of revelation. I have began to understand that when Gods people begin to seek Him and not that which He has to offer he will bless us even more. As christians we have come to believe that we already have God and everyone else needs Him. So our focus is on what He has to offer and not on Who He is? Yet the Lord tells us to " Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you." Mat 6: 33 or "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: Psalms 37: 5 He will take care of it for you.

Have you found somewhere in your life where you are weak? Where no matter how hard you try you just can't seem to do it the way you want too? We can't do everything on our own. We need Gods stregnth, Gods love, and Gods spirit working through us. And the only way to do that is to know Him more. Not what He can do for you but Who He is. The Lord.

One of my favorite illustrations I like to use is one that shows the trust of a child towards their father. I believe that trust is what a young child feels in the arms of their father. A child does not run to their father because of the things the father has planned for them in their lives. A young child doesn't care what college their father wants them to go to, a young child doesn't run to their father to see who they might marry someday, or to see how much money they are going to make in their life, but a young child runs into the arms of their father becasue of Who He is. He has been present in their life since their day of birth and they know this. He has never left them. That child seeks nothing more than to be held in their fathers arms where they know they are safe and free from harm. So why do we ask God to do this for us in the future or tell Him we need this now when all a child is supposed to do is run into the arms of their father. Knowing He will take care of the rest.

Does this make sense to you know? God asks us to fall face foward into Him. And when we are able to do that. When we are able to bow our hearts in total submission to Him He will take care of His child. " You will soar on wings like eagles, You will run and not grow weary, you will walk and not faint." Isaiah 40: 31

This is a new year and a perhaps a new beginging. I urge you to make this the begining of a truly intimate relationship with your Lord. Seek Him first and than you will see that the Lord will truly give you the desires of your heart. ( Psalms 37: 4) He will take care of His children. Gods presence is powerful. He is the one that makes the birds sing, the oceans roar, and the mountains tremble. You know Him as God now allow Him to be Lord over your life. Hold nothing back. And just see what He has instore for you. " Plans to give you a hope and a future" Jeremiah 29: 11

So now in my life I merely invite Him to come be with me, and me with Him. For I know that if I am with Him and He is with me than He will prepare the way. All the things I used to worry about and fear our gone for I am in the arms of my Father.

Just like David I pray that one day the church will once again chase after Gods heart. To want its heart to beat with His, to see with His heart, and to hear with His ears, and to touch with His hands. Can you imagine? It most start with the individual before it can start in the church. I have learned this over my Christmas break and I am not going to keep it a secret. He has blessed me with someone very special over this break that I believe I would have never come to really know if I had not asked to visit with Him finally instead of just asking for His riches and His blessings. In Deuteronomy 11: 12 it says " It is the land the Lord your God cares for: the eyes of the Lord you God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end." He always brings us through. Its Another year, another chance, to throw everything aside and have a real, one on one, intimate relationship with the Big Guy himself. Invite Him to be Lord and sit in your Fathers arms. And then you will see in your own life, "a good measure ( of blessings), pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap."
Luke 6:38
